A well‑established international bank with a growing presence in Australia, operating from offices in Sydney and Brisbane. The business currently employs approximately 50 staff and is known for its strong connections across Asian financial markets, its relationship‑driven approach, and its commitment to professional service standards.

Your new role

Reporting to the General Manager for Australia and working closely with Head Office, you will lead the people function across the Australia region. This role has end-to-end responsibility for HR operations, compliance and the ongoing development of people practices, operating in a hands-on capacity.

Key responsibilities include:

• Acting as the primary HR contact for Australia, supporting teams across Sydney and Brisbane
• Providing end‑to‑end HR generalist support across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, onboarding and performance management
• Ensuring compliance with Australian employment legislation and banking / regulatory requirements
• Advising the GM and local leaders on HR matters, workforce planning and employee engagement
• Managing regular communication with Head Office
• Reviewing employee data, remuneration structures and salary benchmarking
• Continuously improving HR policies, processes and reporting

This is an office-based role in Sydney CBD. Typical hours are approximately 9:00am-5:30pm, with some flexibility for adjusted start and finish times.

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong HR generalist experience within banking, financial services or a regulated environment
• Fluency in Mandarin (spoken and written)
• Solid understanding of Australian employment law and HR compliance
• Experience operating in a standalone or small HR function with end‑to‑end accountability
• Confident stakeholder management skills
